As Popo, players use a trusty mallet to work their way up the mountain. They chip away at the blocks overhead, then jump up through the resulting hole to the mountain's next level. Once Popo reaches the top level, he enters a fast-moving bonus stage in which he can pick up veggies and, hopefully, reach the summit for a big point payoff. Of course, not everyone's supportive of Popo's pastime. Toppies fill Popo's holes, so players must jump through the gaps quickly. It's easy to slip off some of the icy levels, as Polar Bears, Toppies, and other ferocious fauna don't want players up there. There are 32 challenging peaks to scale. How will you fare?
Life as a Pharoh for Zoser has been a prosperous and peaceful time in Egypt until in his tenth year a great famine has swept the land causing hardship and death for his loyal subjects. Years have passed with still no solution to the problem and now his subjects who worshipped him have lost patience and are now gathered outside his temple in Memphis. The Pharoh has turned to his wisest man, Imhotep for help but the only solution to be found is for the wise man to find a Princess with the sacred books called the Souls of Ra. Problem is her location is only known to the God of Wisdom, Throth and to reach him in to ask for directions in his land called Thebes, Imhotep must cross the lands of the Jawi Nomads which are hostile and heavily armed. You play the role of Imhotep as you attempt to cross the hostile lands before finding the location of Throth and finally the Princess over a number of levels. You start the game on a bird flying over the landscape which is a horizontally side view scrolling shooter as you avoid or shoot Nomads on birds as well. The Nomads will fire back with fireballs and if you are hit by a fireball or touch a Nomad then you lose one of five lives. As you progress rocks and huge droplets will also fall from the sky and have to be avoided. After a certain distance of flying you must now disembark your bird and carry on across the landscape on foot. This part of the game is viewed once again from the side with the screen constantly scrolling. The Nomads are once again flying on their birds with rocks and droplets falling from the sky but you also have to jump gaps or lose a life if you fall in. If you survive the hostile lands you now play various single screen platform games with various floors connected by ladders and stairs. There are various creatures moving about the screen and touching one loses a life and to complete the screen you have to collect a certain number of items.
You are on a quest to retrieve your dead Father's crown to help you destroy the evil Ice Queen and remove eternal darkness from your land. You must navigate around her Ice Palace to find the seven pieces of the crown over seven levels to succeed in your quest using objects to solve puzzles. The game is an arcade adventure and contains two screens, the Action Screen or the Adventure Screen. The Action Screen is viewed from above showing a part of the level on the screen. Each level is made up of Hexagon shaped rooms with various objects inside to help or hinder you in your quest. There are six types of rooms and these are empty, a lake which cannot be crossed, a sword which contains various items, a fire which replenishes your firestick, ice which is difficult to cross and a black moline which cannot be entered. Each room has has various entrances and each room can be rotated to align entrances. As you explore the Palace there are various waves of creatures which when touched moves a gauge from good to evil and when it reaches evil it is game over. You can destroy these creatures with your firestick and once a wave is defeated then a spinning cylinder appears and when touched increases your gauge to good. The adventure screen has text and allows you to interact with objects found and solve puzzles. You can also see how many pieces of the crown are found, your good/evil gauge, indicator of any nasties in the area and a candle showing how much time you have left.
Blabgorians possess the gift of psychic ability which allow them to levitate and move items with their minds, as a result they evolved without hands (who needs them?), a single foot (good for bouncing) and an oversized head (handy for containing large quantities of psychic energy). Gribbly Grobbly is your typical Blabgorian, and is tasked with the safety of the 'gribblets'. 'Gribblets' are infant Blabgorians; they have an armoured shell to protect them, but when flipped on their backs they expose their vulnerable belly and are unable to right themselves. They also have an annoying tendency to leave the safety of home in search of adventure. Unfortunately Blabgor is not a safe place; there are hordes of beasts roaming the landscape, eagerly searching for vulnerable Gribblets. The basic premise for the game required the player to control Gribbly and navigate him through each of the 16 surreal 8-way scrolling landscapes in an attempt to locate and rescue eight baby Gribblets and returning them to the safety of the home cave. Gribbly can hop and levitate around each of the levels and can blow bubbles to defend himself. Once a Gribblet is located, Gribbly can pick up the hapless offspring and carry it to safety. Once only a single Gribblet remains on a level, the energy web fails, freeing Seon. This usually results in a mad rush to get the remaining Gribblet to safety before succumbing to his attacks. Once all the Gribblets are either saved or killed, the level ends and Gribbly is transported to the next level.
