Čtyři maskovaní a dobře ozbrojení muži přepadnou vlak metra v New Yorku. Mají pečlivě připravený plán celé akce a brzy každého přesvědčí, že z jeho realizace rozhodně nehodlají ustoupit. Jako výkupné za zadržované cestující požadují milion dolarů, které mají být doručeny na určené místo v metru za pouhou hodinu. Kapitán dopravní policie Zachary Gerber se pokouší v rekordním čase zajistit požadovaný finanční obnos a přitom hledá způsob, jak neznámé muže zastavit...
