Na trhu s diamanty vznikne podivná situace. Bondovi nezbývá než v Holandsku proniknout mezi pašeráky drahých kamenů a dostat se tak do blízkosti dvou mužů. Setkání s nimi však bylo doposud pro kohokoliv osudné. V Jihoafrické republice zabili zubaře, který kupoval kradené diamanty přímo od horníků, ale tím řetěz vražd nekončí. Také omráčený agent 007 se díky nim ocitne v rakvi. Zabijáci ho okamžitě pošlou v krematoriu do pece. Pro koho pracují?
