Dramatický seriál z původní produkce HBO vypráví o nejdivočejším městě Divokého západu, které bylo nezákonně založeno v letech zlaté horečky na indiánském teritoriu, a nespadalo tudíž pod jurisdikci Spojených států. Nejbohatší naleziště zlata v americké historii podnítilo v době nenasytného drancování vznik hraničního města mimo právo a zákon, jehož existenci provázel nelítostný boj o moc. Bylo nedotčené civilizací, zato plné násilí, které přitahovalo barvitou směsku přistěhovalců, toužících po rychlém zbohatnutí. Bylo to místo, kde všechno – a každý – mělo svou cenu. Peklo, kde se dalo přijít ke štěstí.
