Battle of Westerplatte was unique in many ways, and this game will try to reflect on that. Players can expect that they will be outnumbered, outgunned, but not out of tactics. Also, expect enemies with brains, they will react to your strategies and apply counter strategies to break down your defences. All you have is a handful of soldiers to stand in their way. Warfront Defenders as a series of games will attempt to take inspiration from the historical battles of WW2 and turn them into tactical games playable on small dioramas. This game is made in collaboration with the Museum of Westerplatte to derive inspiration from the actual event and design the level based on the actual maps from the period. Though this is not a chronological account of the battle, the gameplay and the tactics are heavily inspired by the proceedings of the historical battle and its challenges are designed to remember the defenders of Westerplatte. PsychLabVR is a virtual research center created through a team led by Noah Robinson, a clinical psychology doctoral student at Vanderbilt University. It is freely available on the Steam VR app store. With IRB consent we collect behavioral data and survey response questions in an Internet-connected immersive virtual environment. Our first alpha experiment involves simulated social scenes to measure social anxiety. This data will be used to create an empirical foundation for a free, automated intervention to treat social anxiety disorder. We also hope to open the platform to other researchers who can collected data with Unity-based environments in PsychLabVR. If you'd like to learn more, please contact Noah Robinson. In the sense of Tim Burton a group of students from the University of Applied Sciences Salzburg faced the challenge to combine virtual reality technology and the horror genre in one game. On both the artistic and the technical level, the students wanted to break fresh ground and walk new paths. The project will be exhibited with many other student projects at the Creativity Rules Festival in Hallein from June 8th to June 11th 2017. Concept and Story The game tells the story of a gray future where, thanks to the latest technology, it is possible to enter another's subconsciousness and treat their psychological problems. During a routine procedure, the player enters the subconscious mind of a former instrument maker. Shortly after the entry he has to realize that things don't go according to plan and that he is locked inside. During the search for a way out, the terrible past of the instrument maker is gradually revealed and the player discovers that he is not alone. Visual style and new technical possibilities Aimed at a very simplified and abstract design the team wants to stand out from the mass of hyperrealistic horror games and offer their own distinctive style. On a technical level, the students try to use new and innovative techniques to push the game onto a new level.
