Essentially a tech demo, “Half-Life 2: Lost Coast” sole purpose was to show off the new high-dynamic-range-rendering of the Source engine, it was a welcome addition to the franchise. It’s a free addition to the game that can be downloaded through Steam by the owners of Half-Life 2. Gordon Freeman founds himself near a group of decaying piers, fully armed and ready to explore the monastery above him, fighting through the Combine forces. High-dynamic-range-rendering introduced realistic lighting effects to the game, emulating even camera’s overexposure to the bright light, which was eventually moved to the main game. Lost Coast story is conveyed without cutscenes, every part of the level is tailored specifically to demonstrate the changes, made by developers. Even though it was originally created for the Half-Life 2, it was removed from the main game, alongside some minor story details. It’s not a full standalone game and wasn’t intended as one.

CoV was released as an "expanshalone" release, or an expansion that did not require the original City of Heroes purchase to work (i.e. stand-alone). Oasis is a strategy/puzzle game depicting the journey of an Egyptian prince to unite the fragmented kingdoms of his father's domain. Players explore the sorcerous fog that has descended on these kingdoms, uniting lost cities to fend off barbarian hordes. Searching the kingdom uses a mechanic similar to Minesweeper, but with the difference that there are no harmful clicks. Each click removes fog from one space and reveals some information about what may be found in nearby spaces. Alternatively, once the player has removed enough fog to reveal useful terrain features, they may use a turn to instead build roads between cities, search them for hidden treasures, or take other actions to prepare for the barbarian hordes. When the player runs out of turns, the barbarians arrive (from where?) and attack. The player will have ten seconds to move people to the nearest city (if the player built the right roads!) and then it's out of your hands. Victory depends on having made the right preparations. So while every click on the map is good, they may not all be equally good for your current situation. The full version of the game includes the Pharaoh's Challenge, a selection of campaign games each telling a different story, and each using different variant rules on the basic game.

Initially released in 2005 for Microsoft Xbox and later ported to other platforms, the game is part of the Oddworld series. It is significantly different from other installments: here the player takes control over the bounty hunter named Stranger. He catches criminals and gets rewards for them. The final goal is to earn enough money for some mysterious medical operation. The player travels with Stranger to four cities: Clakkerz; Gizzard Gulch, Buzzarton, and New Yolk City. One of the features of the game is the use of "live" ammo: insects and small mammals. All of them have different stats and are effective against different types of enemies. The game uses two camera modes: from the first and the third person. Third-person perspective is used to solve platformer challenges while traveling long distances and in hand-to-hand combat. The game switches to the first person while using the sniper class weapons.

Mega Man Battle Network 5: Double Team is a dual screen version of the Game Boy Advance title. The DS will combine both Team Protoman and Team Colonel in one game, but add specific content unique to the Nintendo DS version. The second screen comes into play by giving players direct access to their Cyber Map and PET. The microphone can be "yelled" into to power up Mega Man during battle. And using the Nintendo DS's GBA slot, players can carry over battle chips earned in past Mega Man Battle Network games for use in the Nintendo DS edition.
