Bláznivý výlet dvou rockerů časoprostorem. Bill a Ted jsou nerozluční přátelé. Je jim sedmnáct a místo studií se zajímají víc o vlastní rockovou kapelu. Jenže jestliže Ted neuspěje u zkoušky z historie, půjde na vojnu a všechny jejich plány se zhatí. Na pomoc přichází záhadný podivín, který jim nabídne výlet časoprostorem. Setkání s významnými osobnostmi jednotlivých století jim při zastávce v dvacátém století umožní zvládnout zkoušku na výbornou.
