Americká bláznivá komedie o jednom skutečném zázraku, o právníkovi, který nedokázal lhát. Pravda může člověka osvobodit – ale taky může zavinit pořádný malér. Hvězdou filmu je úspěšný advokát Fletcher Reed, který založil svou kariéru i osobní život na neustálém lhaní. Když si však jeho pětiletý syn Mac, který opět slaví narozeniny bez tatínka, v kouzelné chvíli před sfouknutím svíček přeje, aby otec alespoň jeden den nelhal, je jeho prosba vyslyšena. Fletcherovi proti jeho vůli vycházejí z úst jen pravdivá slova, která dosud nepolepšitelnému lháři pořádně zkomplikují život.
