Obyvatelé Haddonfieldu to zatím netuší, ale smrt přichází do jejich ospalého městečka. Před patnácti roky vyvraždil Michael Meyers polovinu své rodiny, bylo mu tehdy jen 11 let. Od té doby byl pod zámkem v psychiatrické léčebně. Nyní, v podvečer Halloweenu, svátku zesnulých, přichází zpět, aby našel svou malou sestru. Dr. Loomis (Malcolm McDowell) jako jediný opravdu ví, čeho je maniak schopen, a vydává se varovat městečko. Úspěšné znovuzrození jednoho z nejslavnějších hororů nově odhaluje pozadí patologicky narušené mysli a oslovuje jak nové diváky, tak i fanoušky původní série.
