In 1947, he entered the South China guerrilla area and joined the Guangdong, Jiangxi and Hunan column of the People's Liberation Army. Served as the person-in-charge and editor-in-chief of "People's Daily" and "Beihui Daily". In 1951, he served as the head of the Beijiang Cultural Works Troupe in Shaoguan, Guangdong.
