Tylor Tuskmon absolvoval Univerzitu pro příšerky, Scarum Cum Laude, jako premiant třídy. Již od dětství, kdy děsil celou 4. třídu v Shockingtonské základní škole strašení, snil o tom, že se stane strašákem stejně jako jeho idol James P. Sullivan. A jeho sen se má nyní splnit. Nebo taky ne. První den vysněné práce v Příšerkách s.r.o. se dozvídá, že strašení už není „in“. Teď frčí smích! Nechtějí zde strašáky, nýbrž vtipšerky! Ale nic není ztraceno. Tylor je dočasně přeřazen do Technického oddělení Příšerek s.r.o., kde se stává součástí P-Týmu plného všeumělů včetně jeho dávné známé z univerzity. Jeho sen se sice hroutí jako domeček z karet, ale Tylor se nevzdává a přijímá novou výzvu: stát se vtipným a získat místo vtipšerky. „Příšerky v rachotě“ vypráví příběh Tylora Tuskmona na cestě za velkým snem stát se vtipšerkou, na které zažívá nekonečná dobrodružství jako člen P-Týmu, bez kterého by Příšerky s.r.o. nikdy nemohly fungovat.
