Děj se odehrává ve Spojených státech těsně po útocích 11. září. Příběh sleduje vztah dvou postav: Paula, veterána z Vietnamu a nyní federálního agenta, jehož velkou obsesí je fanatická obrana Ameriky před ostatním světem a mladičké Lany - misionářky zarputile bránící práva menšin. Lana se právě vrátila do USA po několika letech strávených v Palestině. Wenders říká, že jeho Krajina hojnosti není protiamerickým filmem. Wenders Ameriku miluje, ale do jisté míry reaguje na špatnou politikou Bushova kabinetu. Na rozdíl od Moorova Fahrenheitu 9/11 nechtěl Wenders vytvořit pamflet, ale ukázat opravdovou lidskou tragédii a vyrovnávání se s ní... Úvodní píseň k filmu nazpíval Leonard Cohen. Hudebně se na filmu podílel také David Bowie. Film byl nominován na hlavní cenu Benátského filmového festivalu.(oficiální text distributora)
