Spisovatelka Catherine Tramellová (S.Stone) má opět problémy se zákonem. Scotland Yard určil psychiatra, aby ji vyšetřil. Stejně tak, jako dříve Nick Curran, je doktor Galss C.Tramellovou okouzlen a vlákán do svůdné pasti. Samotná režie filmu byla svěřena do rukou Michaela Caton-Jonese, který má za sebou filmy s Robertem De Nirem (Hodina Pravdy), Brucem Willisem (Šakal) a Liamem Neesonem (Rob Roy). Po několika letech od uvedení kultovního Základního instinktu navázala Sharon na postavu nebezpečné spisovatelky svým opravdu jedinečným způsobem. Podle její slov, půjde v tomto filmu konečně o to pravé ořechové.
