Kultovní snímek Burtona vypráví o vánočních radovánkách v trochu netradiční podobě. Hlavním hrdinou filmu je Jack Skellington, znuděný nekorunovaný vládce Halloweenského městečka, kostlivec s dýňovou hlavou. Jednoho dne se náhodou ocitne v sousedním Vánočním městě. Tamní atmosféra ho natolik uchvátí, že se chce také zapojit do místních oslav a uspořádat Vánoce v trošku jiném, halloweenském duchu. Na pomoc si pozve své přátele ze záhrobí a vyrobí nádherné dárečky pro všechny hodné děti. Naloží je na sáně tažené kostrami sobů a vyráží nadělovat vánoční pohodu. Jak tohle může dopadnout?
