Five days after journalist Jett Knight interviews the notorious serial killer known as "The Baron", Jett's mentor, Ed Billings, is reported missing to the local police force. Suspecting a connection, Detective Thompson discovers the whereabouts of The Baron to have him arrested and locked in a high-security psychiatric prison, where his only contact is with a psychologist. As the investigation unfolds, Thompson begins to suspect Jett is hiding crucial evidence-and launches a second manhunt, this time for the journalist himself.
