Když jste pikolík a pracujete v divadle, není to nic vzrušujícího. Pro tři ztracené existence, Elliota, Sedgewicka a George, je životním snem odhodit utěrky, stoupnout si na pódium a zahrát si ve hře o pirátech. Ovšem s jejich nesmělostí, leností a nízkým sebevědomím tento den patrně nikdy nenastane. Ovšem člověk míní a život mění. Z nebe najednou spadne záhadný míč, který byl vyslán do budoucnosti ve snaze najít pomoc. A tak se trojice ocitá v sedmnáctém století, přímo uprostřed nebezpečných událostí. Musejí překonat sami sebe, zachránit královskou rodinu a navždy tak změnit své životy povalečů.
