Margot byla brutálně zavražděna sériovým vrahem. Její muž Alex se z této tragické události nemůže dlouho vzpamatovat a uzavírá se do svých vzpomínek. Po osmi letech dostane anonymní e-mail. Po jeho otevření uvidí tvář ženy stojící uprostřed davu. Záběr je natočený v reálném čase a trvá jen několik vteřin, Alex přesto její tvář okamžitě pozná. Je to Margot... Guillaume Canet ve svém druhém celovečerním filmu (debutoval snímkem Mon idole, 2002) vychází z literární předlohy Harlana Cobena (Tell no one). Zachycuje v něm pocity a vnitřní krizi člověka, jenž je vtažen do záhadného světa polopravd, který mu však neustále uniká. Alex se nedokáže vymanit z idylických vzpomínek na šťastnou minulost. Možná právě v nich je ale ukryt klíč k tajemství... To vše na pozadí napínavého kriminálního příběhu.
