Marisa Ventura je svobodná matka. Pracuje v luxusním hotelu na Manhattanu a sní o lepším životě pro sebe i pro svého malého syna. Když jednoho dne neodolá pokušení a v apartmánu jedné bohaté dámy si tajně vyzkouší její drahý kostým, potká jí dávný sen o štěstí. Z vedlejšího pokoje ji totiž zahlédne hotelový host, kandidát senátu, Christopher Marshall, který je ihned okouzlen Marisinou krásou. Během nádherného večera, který spolu stráví, se do sebe bláznivě zamilují, Christopher však netuší, kdo Marisa skutečně je. Oba teď budou muset přijít na to, že láska je to největší bohatství...
