Ray Winkler je malý zlodějíček s velkými sny a jen těžce nese poctivou práci umyvače špinavého nádobí. Manželka Frenchy jeho sny neustále sráží k zemi a když za ní Ray přichází s nedomyšleným plánem jak vyloupit banku, je kategoricky proti. Ray se třemi zabedněnými kumpány však již celou akci připravil a dokonce ženu přesvědčí, aby investovala poslední úspory do pronájmu malého obchůdku vedle vytipované banky. Právě pekárna sušenek se stává místem hlavních příprav pro bankovní loupež. Ale všechno se neuvěřitelným způsobem nějak komplikuje, amatérští lupiči hned první den omylem navrtají vodovodní trubku a další malé katastrofy následují. Zato o sušenky, jež peče trpělivá Frenchy, mají zákazníci nebývalý zájem. Právě touto cestu vstupuje do života Raye a Frenchy nečekaný blahobyt... Za touto krásně pojatou groteskou se skrývá pohled na svět a prostoduché mezilidské vztahy. Taškařice "Darebáčci" je označována za Allenův komerčně nejúspěšnější film.
