Každodenní drama a černohumorné šílenství světa newyorských poldů. Detektiva Casey Shraegerovou zrovna přeložili do oddělení vražd a byla přiřazena Jasonu Walshovi, jehož předchozí partner - ne úplně čestný polda, který tajně pátral v minulosti ostatních na stanici - byl právě zabit. Ani zbytek oddělení není tak úplně standardní: Leo Banks nosí neprůstřelnou vestu a antibakteriální mýdlo kamkoliv se hne – je mu totiž 42, věk ve kterém zemřel jeho otec i děda, Eric Delahoy má nádor na mozku, o kterém nikomu nechce říct, a v halucinacích vídá svou mrtvou středoškolskou lásku, Eddie Alvarez o sobě mluví ve třetí osobě, Henry Cole má nové jméno a kriminální minulost a Allison Beaumontová tajně chodí s Walshem. I Casey má svá tajemství - pochází z velmi bohaté rodiny a velitel si právě vybral, aby pomohla vyčistit jeho oddělení od korupce a tajností....
