Adaptace oceňované novely Thomase Hardyho popisuje životní cestu dívky Tess (Gemma Arterton), která se narodila do chudé rodiny Durbeyfieldů, a jejího boje za osudovou lásku se synem kazatele Angelem Clarem (Eddie Redmayne).
