Hrdinové a padouši ze světa Avengers jsou zpět. Padouch Red Skull umírá a aby zabránil nejhoršímu, rozhodne se spojit se zabijáckým MODOKem, aby společně unesli Kapitána Ameriku. Red Skull má v plánu pro sebe tímto způsobem získat zdravé tělo, do nějž by přenesl svou mysl. Poté, co je poražen spojenými silami týmu Avengers, se mu přece jen podaří svůj problém vyřešit. Iron Manovi sebere jeho brnění a nechá Tonyho Starka umírat. Ostatní hrdinové však Starkovi seženou brnění nové a při dalším útoku Skulla opět porazí. Red Skull má ale v záloze ďábelský plán, jak se hrdinů zbavit jednou provždy. Chce jim vzít vše, co je jim drahé a to tak, že zařídí, aby je lidé nenáviděli, protože selhali v jejich záchraně. Aby vyrovnal síly, Skull sestaví vlastní tým, tentokrát samozřejmě super padouchů, kteří mu mají pomoci hrdiny zničit. Jak tento střet dobra se zlem dopadne?
