Dita Krausová (nar. 1929), jejíž válečné zážitky inspirovaly španělského autora Antonia Iturbeho k bestselleru Osvětimská knihovnice a která své osudy shrnula v autobiografii Odložený život (2018), nyní přibližuje životní pouť svého manžela. Válečné události zavedly Otu B. Krause (1921–2000) nejprve do terezínského ghetta, pak do osvětimského pekla, kde jako vychovatel působil na dětském bloku, a následně do pracovního tábora ve Schwarzheide, odkud se s pochodem smrti dostal zpět do Terezína. V roce 1949 emigroval s Ditou do Izraele, kde řadu let pobývali v kibucu Giv´at Chajim a poté pracovali jako učitelé angličtiny v Hadassim. Ota za život vystřídal celou řadu zaměstnání, srdcem však zůstal až do své smrti především spisovatelem a jeho knihy byly přeloženy do mnoha světových jazyků. Biografie pražské rodačky Dity Krausové (nar. 1929), která prošla Terezínem, Osvětimí a Bergen-Belsenem. Ve své biografii popisuje dětství v Praze, vzpomíná na rodiče a kamarády. V listopadu 1942 přišlo předvolání do transportu a rodina putovala nejprve do Terezína a pak do Osvětimi. Autorka popisuje zdejší kruté podmínky: nedostatek jídla, pach spálených lidských těl a všudypřítomný popel poletující vzduchem. Poznala i nechvalně proslulého lékaře Josefa Mengeleho. V březnu 1944 jí hladem a vyčerpáním zemřel otec, v červnu prošla i s matkou selekcí a byly vybrány na práci v Hamburku, kde zažily spojenecké nálety. Po válce se Dita vrátila do Prahy, kde potkala svého budoucího manžela, spisovatele Otu B. Krause. V roce 1949 oba odjeli hromadným transportem přes Rakousko a Itálii do Izraele. Autorčin příběh se stal předlohou pro hlavní hrdinku v knize Osvětimská knihovnice od španělského autora Antonia Iturbeho.
